The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president Nelson Chamisa has vowed to combat tribalism and promote inclusivity if elected in the forthcoming elections, emphasising the importance of unity and equal representation for all citizens.

Addressing party supporters at a rally held at White City stadium in Bulawayo yesterday, Chamisa said there will be no room for tribalism in the new government.

“I strongly believe in a united nation, where diversity and inclusivity are celebrated, and every citizen is treated equally.

Chamisa made a specific commitment to ensure that the Ndebele community would have increased representation in higher offices.

Chamisa stressed the importance of an inclusive government that upholds the principles of fairness and justice for all.

“We must do better. We must provide ample opportunities for talented individuals from the Ndebele community to serve in higher offices.

“Ndebele people’s contributions can enrich our political landscape and bring us closer to a truly united and prosperous nation,” Chamisa said.

Expressing disappointment with the ruling Zanu-PF party’s handling of corruption issues, Chamisa also vowed to bring about a new era of accountability and transparency.

He stated, “If you elect me as the president in the upcoming elections, I am going to make sure that there is no corruption in our country.”

Citing the failures of the current administration, the opposition leader criticized Zanu-PF president Emersson Mnangagwa’s inability to effectively fight corruption.

Chamisa also pledged to enhance whistleblower protections, encourage public reporting of corruption, and work closely with the responsible authorities to combat corruption networks.

“It’s very clear that Mnangagwa has failed to deal with corruption in this country.

“We cannot afford to turn a blind eye any longer and we want change. If you elect CCC as your new government, there will be no room for corruption.

“We understand the impact corruption has on every aspect of our society, hindering economic growth, eroding public trust, and exacerbating inequality. We will commit ourselves to stamp out corruption at every level of governance,” Chamisa said.
