Unknown men violently disrupted the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) press conference, which was being addressed by party spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi at the Sapes Trust in Harare.

They forcibly seized Mkwananzi’s speech in the middle of his address, before fleeing from the scene in unmarked vehicles.

Just moments after the disruption, a warrant of arrest was issued for Mkwananzi for an outstanding arrest warrant issued three years  ago.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is being sought in connection with a warrant of arrest issued by Harare Magistrate Court on 22nd April 2020 for defaulting court proceedings.

“Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is facing incitement to commit public violence charges under Harare Central CR 2627/07/19 and Harare Public Prosecutor reference 11394/2019,” reads a police statement.

Mkwananzi was recently appointed CCC spokesperson replacing Fadzayi Mahere.
