ARTUZ to join 31 July demonstrations

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) have vowed to join mass protests describing them as the only solution to economic challenges.

The teacher’s union raised it’s concerns which range from paltry remuneration and bad working conditions.

This comes after teachers today received their salaries equivalent to US$30.

“The government of Zimbabwe is continuously provoking it’s employees. The equivalent of US$30 in the local RTGS$ currency mockery salary deposited into the teachers bank accounts today continue to trigger the formation of community action committees to sustain our massive protests. countrywide.
The already struggling teachers continue to lose hope in the employer’s responsibility to pay fair wages. The only solution to liberate teachers from this menacing poverty is to continue protesting challenging the masters of modern day slavery to observe and respect the labour rights and pay teachers decent salaries,” ARTUZ said in a press statement.

“The anger within the teachers have reached a boiling point. If the employer fails to act according to the legitimate educators demands, teachers are geared to participate in any national protest especially the #31JulyProtests to restore labour justice, socio-economic equality and workers dignity. It is an open secret to every teacher and worker that the suffering of the majority of teachers is engineered by looters who are labelling every worker who demand labour justice as a western sponsored regime change agent. Every teacher must know that our suffering is caused by people who are not even concerned by the welfare of teachers at the same time pushing the agenda of protecting their loot as if they’re the only legitimate beneficiaries of our God given national natural resources.”

ARTUZ added that government must improve teacher’s welfare.

“Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ urges the government to remove anarchists in government, who are causing socio-economic disorder in the country through anti-workers policies, syphoning millions of USD from the national treasury for their own personal use, whilst the majority of teachers and other workers are languishing in abject poverty. The employer must know that, teachers are a key variable in human capital investment and nation development and must be respected.”

The union encouraged all civil servants to rise up against their employer and demand labour justice.
