The Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula, has referred to the leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and Nelson Chamisa as puppet of Western powers after Emmerson Mnangagwa’s election victory in the disputed elections.
During his meeting with Obert Mpofu, Secretary General of tje ruling party ZANU-PF in Harare, Mbalula stated that ZANU-PF’s victory represents the defeat of imperialists puppets.
“We are delighted that Zanu PF emerged victorious here in Zimbabwe because its triumph signifies one thing – the defeat of imperialist puppets,”he said.
He further emphasized that young people should be educated about the importance of liberation struggles so they do not overthrow regimes which fought for their freedom.
“We have come too far to surrender. Even if current generations have lost sight of what liberation struggle means, we must continue fighting for our country.”
Zimbabwe’s second post-Mugabe election took place on August 23-24th 2018 and saw Mnangagwa declared winner by obtaining 52.6% votes while Chamisa received 44%, according to results from Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).
