Diplomatic missions in Zimbabwe have  condemned the government’s use of military to seize offices occupied by the opposition party, MDC Alliance.

This comes after Thursday night hoards  of youths aligned to Thokozani Khupe’s MDC backed by armed forces  seized Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House, formerly Harvest House in Harare.

United States embassy in Harare in a statement condemned government for politicising security forces to target opposition parties.

The statement posted on Twitter read: “We are dismayed by the politicized use of security forces to take over the headquarters of an opposition party and arrest its members.
A healthy democracy requires healthy opposition parties. #PoliticalArrests #AHouseStolen”

The European Union who shared the same sentiment described the move as a disregard for the rule of law in Zimbabwe.

“This week’s events in #Zimbabwe show a lack of respect for rule of law, due process and constitutional rights: partisan deployment of security forces, arrests, disrespect of property rights, partial investigations, corruption & threats against journalists. #RuleOfLaw #NoZimpunity,” the EU said.
