HIgh court dismiss Linda Masarira’s application

HIGH Court Judge Justice Gladys Mhuri Thursday dismissed Labour Economists and African Democrats (LEAD) leader Linda Masarira’s appeal against the nomination court’s decision to turn down her nomination papers.

Masarira who was vying for the presidential seat in the upcoming general elections.

Masarira was the second female aspirant to contest President Emmerson Mnangagwa in August 23 polls, alongside Elisabeth Valerio, leader of United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) who had her nomination only accepted after a court challenge.

 

Masarira said she will know the way forward when the judge releases a full judgement.

 

“We will only get to know the reasons when we get a copy of the full judgement. The way forward will be determined after reading the full judgement,” she said.

Masarira wanted to pay her US$20 000 nomination fee using the local currency but failed to make the transaction due to bank limit issues.
