Masvingo –MDC Alliance National Youth Organizer and Ward 4 councilor, Godfrey Kurauone was today
acquitted.
Kurauone who had been detained for 46 days without bail faced charges of obstructing traffic movement
in Mashava and participating in illegal demonstrations.
He appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Patience Madondo.
The State on Monday completed the cross examination process.
His lawyer, Advocate Martin Mureri said his acquittal was long overdue.

Kurauone has been acquitted and this is good news to us as it was long over due. This is the day we have all been waiting for. I knew Kurauone was innocent but the State just wanted to persecute him over
something he did not do. Witnesses failed to provide solid evidence,” he said.
The State failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he indeed committed the crime. The two witnesses to the case failed to have their statements tally as both stated different times they claim to
have seen Kurauone commit the crime.

Due to lack of solid evidence, Kurauone was acquitted of all charges.
One party supporter said, “We are happy Kurauone has been acquitted and we knew he was innocent, they just wanted him to pay for a crime he did not commit hence lack of evidence. We hope he is safe wherever he is going to be as we worry for his safety above all.
