I am like Adele: Fidel Country Boy

One of the country’s hottest new artists, Fidel Country Boy, has made a huge comparison of himself and multi-Grammy award winner, Adele saying they both toured out of single projects.

Not to be confused, Fidel did not compare their talents but rather the trajectory that their careers took.

In an interview with Bustop TV, Fidel said that he has managed to earn two tours out of his hit, Tangai Bhawa.

He however appears to have taken a hiatus since the beginning of 2021.

“I wasn’t silent. Tangai Bhawa is still being played because bhawa harisati ravhurwa. That was a masterpiece of art that we worked on. I am like Adele, I released one song and had to tour with that one song. before I release music, I sit down, study people and study the environment. If I haven’t released music it will because then they won’t be need for a song. It is a strategy.”

He added that he took time to release music due to the nature of the music business in Zimbabwe which he feels is not as lucrative as people assume.

“I don’t release music with the pace people expect me to because in Zimbabwe having hit songs doesn’t translate to money. Music fans are funny sometimes and there are little things that they do that are heartless. The level people assume we would have reached and we would be is different. Tiri pakutsvaga wangu. People dance to our music and they do not buy it yet when they meet us, they are quick to mock us and even make comparisons of such things as music videos. We can not please everyone especially in our environment where people do not buy music. Buying music empowers your favourite artists such that they can produce the good music videos and meet your expectations when you meet them.”

The ‘Musango’ chanter gave an update on his South Africa tour.

He went on to dismiss rumours that he had been duped by the promoter.

“The tour was good for me since I am new to the fans. For me to have a tour outside the country with the short period I have in the industry is not easy. This was my second tour having had done the Tangai Bhawa national tour last year. Napromoter takatobudana bho, there were no issues,” he said.

He is set to release a new offering this Africa Day.
