ED, Chamisa files nomination papers

PRESIDENT Emerson Mnangagwa and main opposition Citizen’s Coalition  for Change leader Nelson Chamisa successfully filed their nomination papers at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) offices on Tuesday.

The nomination court sits today ahead of the August 23 General elections.

Chamisa confirmed he had successfully filed his nomination papers on Tuesday afternoon.

“Presidential Candidate Nomination Papers Filed!! Have just successfully filed papers at ZEC. It’s all systems go! A New Great Zimbabwe is loading,” he announced on Twitter.

Other presidential candidates expected to file their nomination papers are exiled  former minister Saviour Kasukuwere, Robert Chapman, Lovemore Madhuku, Joseph Busha among others.

Nomination fees are pegged at U$20 000 for the presidential candidates, while prospective MPs will pay US$1 000 to participate in the polls, with aspiring councillors and senators paying US$100.

Aspiring senators and MPs will file their papers in provincial capitals.

Councillors will submit their papers at their respective district centres
