The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has filed a criminal case against an imposter who has falsely claimed to hold the position of Acting Secretary General within the party.
This follows after Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be the interim secretary-general of CCC, initiated the recalling of 15 CCC Members of Parliament (MPs) and 17 councillors, alleging that they were no longer members of the opposition party.
The recalls resulted in the tumult that occurred in Parliament on Tuesday when anti-riot police were called in to remove CCC legislators who were protesting the recall of 15 of their colleagues.
The majority of these recalled officials are from the Matabeleland region.
Posting on its official X account, CCC revealed that they have filed a criminal case against him, and the case has been registered at the Milton Park Police Station under the RRB number SSS1290.
“Our team successfully implemented the resolutions of the Citizens National Assembly, which included taking action against an imposter who illegally and fraudulently recalled our MPs, Senators, and Councilors through impersonation and misrepresentation.
“We have reported and filed a criminal case at Milton Park Police station, under RRB number SSS1290,” reads the post.
Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Jacob. F. Mudenda announced a ruling that all CCC MPs would be prohibited from attending Parliament for six sessions and would have their salaries docked for two months as a penalty for boycotting President Mnangagwa’s State of the Nation address the previous week.
