LOCAL bio-technology company, Oil Castor Zimbabwe has become the first to introduce organic motor oil processed from engineered castor beans.
The organic motor oil is produced at factories located in Marondera, Mashonaland East.
Speaking at the motor oil launch held in Manresa, Harare earlier this year, the company’s co-founder, Alvaro Silva said the new product enhances engine performance and has a low fuel consumption.
In an interview with Bustop TV, Silva said the production of the motor oil is revolutionary for the manufacturing sector as it is the first of it’s kind.
“It is a 100% organic motor oil making it’s production revolutionary.
“The product is the only motor oil in the world made of castor beans,” he said.
He added that by producing locally Oil Castor Zimbabwe has managed to create employment as well as income for farmers in the rural areas.
“It will benefit rural farmers as they are getting paid for producing castor beans which we convert into motor oil.
“The more oil we sell, the more rural farmers we can buy from.
“We also employ scientist; bio-chemists, chemical engineers and laboratory technicians from universities nationwide that work hand in hand with another team of scientists in Canada.”
