Zimbabwe records its third highest figure of Covid-19 infections

As Zimbabwe is experiencing a surge in Covid-19 positive cases and deaths the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) yesterday recorded 2 683 new Covid-19 cases.


According to the statistics this is Zimbabwe’s third highest number of Covid-19 infections in 24 hours since the outbreak of the deadly virus.


The MOHCC confirmed the number of new cases in a Covid-19 situation report (sitrep) that was posted on twitter Tuesday morning.

The sitrep also indicates that all the 2 683 cases are linked to local infections only. 


At the moment, Zimbabwe has seen a spike in deaths and new infections of the novel as a result of the third wave which the country’s health experts already predicted is in existence.


However, in a effort to try and fight the virus, government has embarked on a number of solutions.


Strict lockdown measures, decongesting of work places in all government’s ministry departments and mass vaccination programs are some of the solutions.


Notwithstanding, the country has remained in danger as the third wave has seen a spike in Covid-19 deaths and new infections.
To date, Zimbabwe has recorded 88 415 confimed cases with 58 155 recoveries and 2 747 deaths.
While a total of 1 247 494 have reportedly been vaccinated and consignments for millions of vaccination doses are reportedly still expected to arrive in the country.
The health ministry recently revealed that its targeting to vaccinate 60 % of the country’s population.
