Popular Chitungwiza businessman, Ernest Mangwiro Nyamayaro, affectionately known as “Mukanya”, last Thursday morning lost more than $149 000 to armed robbers.
According to reports, around 4am Thursday morning six armed robbers attacked the security guard on duty at Mukanya’s Riverside, Chitungwiza residence, tied him up, and then entered the house .
Upon gaining entry the robbers attacked the businessman’s wife before forcibly taking away five cellphones and cash.
Confirming the incident Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi said, “We believe that the robbers had inside information that the businessman had cash at home. We are still investigating the case,”
“People should also not divulge any information pertaining to movement of cash to anyone or even their employees.”
High profile cases of robberies have been on the rise with notable ones being the incidences that was businessmen, Tawanda Nyambirai and Rodney Dangarwmbizi losing thousands of dollars to armed gangs .
