As substance abuse has wreaked havoc among the youths, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has set up an Inter-ministerial committee to tackle this problem.

This was revealed by Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana, on Twitter yesterday.

Mangwana wrote, “Having noted the serious adverse effects Substance Abuse is having on both individual health and societal wellbeing, President @edmnangagwa has set up an Inter-ministerial Committee on Tackling Substance Abuse Menace Among the Youths.”

With the amount of devastation that has already been suffered, it remains unclear if the committee set up will do anything towards fighting the problem.

Most youths, being unemployed and depressed, have taken to cough syrups, crystal meth, glue and alcohol among other substances.

It remains to be seen whether the committee will bring out what is already known or maybe jobs and recreational facilities will be created.
