Masiyiwa proposes people wear masks for the next 12 months.

Zimbabwean billionaire and businessman, Strive Masiyiwa has suggested that people wear masks for the next twelve months in order to contain the spread of the novel COVID-19.

Masiyiwa who is one of the global lights leading in donations to various countries where his business empires span wrote on his Facebook page that masks should be the new normal.

He wrote, “By now it should be clear to everybody that the most powerful tool to fight coronavirus infection is the humble mask.”

Masiyiwa also proposed that people should wear masks for the following 12 months.

“We have to wear Masks for the next 12 months, every day, in much the same way, we wear clothes. They must become an essential part of our clothing, like underwear!”

The business mogul also suggested that people should have multiple masks and avoid wearing one mask repeatedly.

“If you wear the same mask every day, it will become smelly, and lose its real effectiveness. Every person should have at least three masks and change one every day.An old bedsheet can make great masks. For children, old school uniforms are good mask materials.”

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) wearing masks in public places could provide “a barrier for potentially infectious droplets” however in Zimababwe concern from the public has been the government’s failure to provide adequate personal protective equipment.
