Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) secretary-general Kenneth Mtata has urged MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to swallow his pride and accept that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is the legitimate Head of State.
Mtata made the remarks during an interview with media where he also called for inclusive political dialogue.
“Dialogue is imminent, but it is just a matter of time. President Mnangagwa is the Head of State and Government. He is our statesman.
“He has the keys for dialogue, the MDC-A leader should swallow his pride and consider engaging President Mnangagwa as the President of Zimbabwe. Dialogue is coming, we need to prepare for it, but it might take time. We do not need foreign intervention,” he said.
Chamisa rejected the outcome of the 2018 presidential election in which President Mnangagwa was declared the winner.
The Constitutional Court did not find any evidence of rigging after Chamisa launched an appeal to have the election results set aside.

If ED is the elected president then why do need Chamisa on the table, tongai ka tione, Chamisa is the Elected president, the people’s president and Chamisa has the key for dialog but 1st ED must resolve what happened in 2018, simple
Iyevo Chamisa kana ari President ngaatongevo tione zve
If ED is a legitimate president so what is the importance of a dialogue, the dialogue is not necessary. The need of a dialogue means something is not right. Please may the church speak the truth without fear and trembling. Don’t try to call what is wrong “good ” and what is good “wrong” please stay on your position as a church. Musapihwe mapurazi kuti mushonyorore zvinhu!
Because when you are a nation’s leader, you do not represent those from your political party only. Not all the useful ideas reside solely in one’s political party. If you are an open-minded person you can learn loads from your opponent. In fact your opponent can be the best teacher. This happens in sports competitions, it happens in entertainment,; it happens in academia, it happens in war. Even businesses in competition each other learn each from the other, even if not always acknowledging. No wonder some of the ZANU PF violence visible in the MDC-A.
ED is the one supposed to swallow his pride for the dialog and international intervention is the answer
Who do these churches think they are by saying someone should swallow their pride for heaven’s sake when is ED going to swallow his pride and say sorry to the families he killed and still killing can’t he see what his doing to our beautiful country and his killing everyone people are starving, children uneducated, pensioners giving up what is the churches doing about it are they helping the starving nation hell NO. What do I have to say to the churches who are benefiting GO TO HELL YOU ain’t God you a scrounger who is reaping evil because you are not helping by talking rubbish you all need to burn in hell
Very true
What need to be resolve d here chamisa myst swallow his pride and accept defeat we know to be defeated is not easy asi hatingarambi tichibvunza kuti ko arikubuda mubedroom ma mama ndiani zvingakutorera nguva kuti ubvume iuti ndibaba asi ndivo varikurara kuseri kwamama vako so acept and wait for another chance to come
It’s TRUE what ZCC says. Actually, Zimbabwe now needs people that are prepared to do positive thi gs for Zimbabwe, do something positive for Zimbabwe, than have Zimbabwe do something good for you. While the western countries continue to drive their agenda of pressing down the confidence that Zimbabwe needs to develope the economy, Zimbabwesns should unite and utter positive words for the country to revive investor confidence. If you care about Zimbabwe, and not your selfish ego and power hungryness, then be positive. Rome was not built in one day. Aluta continua!!!!
I thought ED and Polad were resolving the economic issue. Also churches should tell ED to accept defeat in 2018 then we see where we go from there simple.
Since you’re the winners why do you need Chamisa for a dialogue, Chamisa is not there to fix your messy. You said you can rule the nation so let be
Then suffer continue
Then suffer continue
The problem with Zim politics ,noone accept defeat even at all cost. So there is no need for election, rather give each other terms of say 10yrs each.Just ammend the constitution to suit this idea.
If that is the case let him lead the country and do good things ,but the only solution of Zimbabwe Is to have the pupety president because America has got any over Zimbabwe minerals if we can’t engage America there is nothing for Zimbabwe
This mtata is evil and devilish. He thinks the consent is in Chamisa, the whole Zimbabwe populace is against your zanu mtata. Struggle will continue even without Chamisa, be reminded of that.
What do you expect from the grouping of the likes of Shingie Munyeza. What l can only tell you he also want to be the President of Zimbabwe. Watch the space. This man was once a Zim sun employee. Go to his history what he did to lnnocent Nezungai and the time and he landed himself the his post at the Zimbabwe sun Hotel. Give him time and muchaona zvenyu
That’s ridiculous, they should tell varakashi to stop brutalising innocent people first, they should tell the thieves to stop looting first, theh should tell the regime to start paying doctors and nurses in our hospitals, they should tell them to stop corruption. That’s what’s hurting the economy.
