Masvingo – Rotary club today donated books worth USD$1000 to schools of Nursing in the province at Masvingo General Hospital.

More than 300 books were donated to Masvingo General Hospital, Mashoko Mission, Gutu Mission, Morgenster and Musiso Mission.

Themba Banda, former President of the club, was standing in for the President and said they are doing this in a bid to make sure service delivery is enhanced.

“We are a service organisation with different people meeting to alleviate those who are less privileged. This year was declared the International year of Nurses and Midwives. Nurses are front line workers, we saw it the best to thank the nurses for the services they are rendering in times like these and fighting on despite the challenges being faced. The era we are in is not an easy one, and they have managed to hold on and make sure lives are saved.
So we want to help them restock their libraries and have books to read so that they face fewer challenges in their school work. This will go a long way in the provision of service delivery, these books will even help our tutors as their work will be less burdened,” said Banda.

Standing in for the Provincial Medical Director, Amadeus Shamhu; Never Chingosho expressed his gratitude.

“We are very grateful with the donations we received today for the schools of nursing, we are thrilled with the support we are getting and we are going to achieve our goals as mid wives, their services are essential for everyone in the country. We will continue to work hard to have 100% pass rate as witnessed by Gutu Mission Hospital which recorded a 100% pass rate.
The donations we got will go a long way for us and some of the books we got are very difficult to obtain, it is not everyone who affords to obtain books online and not everyone has a laptop so hard copies are the way to go,” said Chingosho.
