Inside the Barracks: Is Blessed Geza Receiving Military Protection

Basil Nyabadza, the former ARDA boss, is facing serious allegations of defrauding prominent war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza of more than US$1 million. Nyabadza, however, strongly denies the accusations, and his legal team is pressing for concrete evidence to be presented in court.

Nyabadza’s legal defense is being led by Advocate Tazorora Musarurwa, who has filed an application requesting detailed evidence from the State. The defence insists that the prosecution provide a clear breakdown of how the alleged amount of US$1,362,000 was calculated. Additionally, Musarurwa has demanded that the State submit bank statements and supporting documents to prove that Geza made the payments.

State’s Response and Timeline

Appearing for the State, prosecutor Anesu Chirenje informed the court that a formal response to the defence’s application would be given on February 20. According to Chirenje, the case dates back to October 29, 2020, when Geza allegedly purchased a 42.3504-hectare piece of land from Nyabadza for US$1,362,000.

Details of the Land Transaction

Geza was reportedly given exclusive rights to subdivide, develop, and sell the land. However, trouble arose when Nyabadza allegedly misrepresented the status of the land by claiming it had title deeds, which he promised to provide within a month. When the document was not delivered, Geza sought subdivision permits from the Department of Physical Planning in Mashonaland West province. It was during this process that he discovered a shocking revelation.

Double Sale Allegations

Chirenje told the court that Nyabadza had sold the same piece of land to Velda Estates without Geza’s knowledge. This discovery prompted Geza to approach Nyabadza to resolve the issue amicably. Unfortunately, he learned the original sale agreement had been cancelled without his consent.

Police Involvement and Claims of Prejudice

After efforts to resolve the matter privately failed, Geza reported the issue to the police. The court heard that Geza suffered significant financial prejudice amounting to US$1,362,000, and none of the money has been recovered to date.
