A Rushinga village head has left his wife of 20 years for a pregnant girlfriend.
The village head, Godfrey Kapurura on last Saturday appeared before Chief Makuni’s Community Court divorcing his wife, Tabeth Musinha.
Kapurura argued that he had never been blessed with a child in their 20 year marriage and had decided to take another wife.
“I did that as a way to prove my fertility since we have not been able to have any child with Tabeth,” Kapurura told the Chief’s court.
Musina told the court she was not comfortable being in a polygamous marriage.
“I don’t want to be in a polygamous marriage,” she said.
Chief Makuni gave them three weeks to share the property they accumulated before separating.
