President Emmerson Mnangagwa has today (Friday) warned that he will punish all land barons incriminated in the commission of inquiry into the sale of state land since 2005 report.

The commission of inquiry chaired by Justice Tendai Uchena appointed in 2018 presented it’s findings to Mnangagwa which revealed that government is owed US$3.5 by urban state land beneficiaries.

The land was allocated and appropriated through corrupt means and using top ZANU PF officials names without being valued.

Speaking at the ongoing ZANU PF National Conference in Goromonzi, Mashonaland East, Mnangagwa said he was against abuse of office in acquiring land.

“I have since received the report of the commission of inquiry into urban state land which revealed glaring excesses and acts of corruption by land barons and their supporters.

“As a party, we will not accept a situation where our people live in squalid conditions 39 years after independence, as a result of being swindled out of their hard-earned money by these criminal elements.

“Those implicated in the commissioner’s report which I received three days ago must be brought to book without fear or favour.”
