President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday demoted Primary and Secondary Education minister, Cain Mathema to Minister without Portfolio.
Mathema has been replaced by Dr Evelyn Ndlovu.
The development was announced by Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda.
Sibanda said the Minister of State in Vice-President’s office, Ndlovu, will with immediate effect, start to conduct her duties as the education minister.
“In terms of section 104 (1) of the Zimbabwe Constitution Amendment No. 20 of 2013, His Excellency the President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has made the following ministerial appointments:
The appointment of Ndlovu who is also Bulilima proportional representation legislator, follows after Mathema reportedly fell critically in August.
According to the reports, Mathema contracted Covid-19.
