Elvis Nyathi was today laid to rest at Umvutsha cemetery in Bulawayo.

The body of the deceased arrived yesterday in Bulawayo and proceeded to his home in Nkulumane 12.

He died at the age of 43 in South Africa after being brutally assaulted and set alight by a mob in Diesploot,  Johannesburg.

He survived by his wife and four children.

Speaking during the funeral Elvis Nyathi’s brother, Godknows Nyathi narrated how his brother was killed.

“We are still pained as a family about how Elvis nyathi was killed. He was a quiet person and did not expect such cruelty to happen to him,” he said .

Minister of State for Bulawayo Judith Ncube attended the funeral.

“President Emmerson Mngangagwa when he heard the news was pained and saw the need to give Elvis Nyathi a state assisted funeral looking at how painful his death was dying for a mere fact that he is a foreigner from Zimbabwe,” she said.

She thanked the rest of Zimbabwe for helping providing everything necessary for the funeral and relieving the family of financial stress.
