Carbon Green Africa donates to Hurungwe

Carbon Green Africa recently gifted Hurungwe District taskforce with disinfectants, sanitisers, gloves masks and vegetables.

The equipment is meant to assist the district in it’s fight against Covid-19.

It will go towards equipping hospitals and clinics with the basics that are required to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Delivering the donation after the launch of Schools Covid-19 Response Program in Karoi, the company’s managing director, Rory Muil said the donation would assist Magunje and Karoi hospitals and clinics designated as isolation centres in the district.

“In response to the current pandemic, we are in partnership with the government and other players. We are raising Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and any other stuff that we may get to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Carbon Green Africa will do whatever it can in obtaining the items to assist societies.

“Today we brought 25 bags of fresh broccoli to be given to Magunje and Karoi Hospitals, 40 litres of sanitisers for Magunje and Nyamakate health institutions, a carton of bleach, masks, gloves, alcohol based hand sanitisers and protective clothing for each clinic in the district,” he said.

The company’s chief executive officer; Mr Charles Ndondo said they will purchase sanitisers from Chinhoyi High School and facemasks from Chikangwe High School for donation to clinics and hospitals in the district as a token of appreciation to the schools for the effort they are giving in regards to the pandemic fight.

Hurungwe Rural District Council chief executive officer, Luke Kalavina commended the gesture and said it was going to help the council run clinics and other five clinics that the local council has since handed over to the Ministry of Health and Child Care to act as Covid-19 isolation centres.

Hurungwe district development coordinator and district’s taskforce on Covid-19 chairperson, Mr Andrew Tizora called on other players particularly tobacco companies operating in the district to also extend their hands in the fight against Covid-19.

Mashonaland West provincial development coordinator, Cecilia Chitiyo urged the locals and companies to purchase PPEs and sanitisers from Chikangwe High School which recently joined other institutions in making paraphernalia and sanitisers that are recommended by the World Health Organisation in regards to the pandemic.

Carbon Green Africa is a company with a core competency of having the capability to enable successful conservation projects according to the rules of verified carbon standards and the community, climate and biodiversity standards.

The company provides humanitarian assistance in Hurungwe, Nyaminyami, Binga and Mbire districts.
