A middle aged man from Kariba’s Nyami Nyami district was killed by an elephant Tuesday night, the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) has said.
Zimparks spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo posted the devastating news on his twitter account.
“It is with great sadness that a middle aged man was killed by an elephant in Matusadonha last night. @Zimparks.”
Farawo also revealed the number of people who have been killed by elephants and other wild animal increased in 2021 compared to last year (2020).
He also said, at the moment, almost 50 deaths have been recorded.
The number has seen an increase from May during the first quarter of the year, when Zimparks confirmed that 23 people were killed by wild animals.
Farawo then told a local publication that the deaths are caused by animals that stray into surrounding communities.
