ZIMSEC warns schools against closing exam registration before due date

by Bustop TV News

THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has warned schools against pressuring parents to pay November 2023 exam fees by the end of March.

This comes at a time some registration centres have reportedly set deadlines for exam registration which is before ZIMSEC’s official closing date.

In a statement released on Tuesday, ZIMSEC insisted that the deadline is 14 April.

“Centres are hereby advised that although they may wish to set deadlines which allow for administration of entries, these deadlines should not disadvantage any candidate through failure to register.

“Deadlines should allow for payment of fees in currencies of the parents’ choice for onward submission to ZIMSEC in the currency which they received.

“Contrary to reports that some centres have set closing dates of 30 March 2023, we hereby advise the nation that ZIMSEC 2023 November examinations registration closing date is still 14 April 2023,” reads the statement.

Examination registration fees are pegged in USD and payment can be made in the local currency or rands at the prevailing interbank rate of the day of payment.

“Those who would like to make payments in ZWL will use the inter bank rate which shall be communicated by ZIMSEC on the 4 April 2023. The inter bank rate prevailing on that day will apply for the period of the 4th  to the 14 April 2023.

“Payments for the examination fees should not be paid directly into ZIMSEC accounts by individual parents. Candidates or parents should make payments to the centre of registration for forward remission to ZIMSEC.

Ordinary and Advanced level students from public schools  are pegged at US$11 and US$22 per subject respectively.

For private schools the fees are pegged at US$24 for O levels and US$48 for A levels per subject.
