Blessed Geza Refutes Arrest Rumors, Teases Upcoming

Militant war veteran leader Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has reappeared on X (formerly Twitter) after a period of silence, reigniting political tensions with renewed criticism of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Geza, who previously launched strong attacks against Mnangagwa over alleged nepotism, corruption, and governance failures, had gone quiet following the backlash. However, his return, notably in military attire, suggests further political unrest may be on the horizon.

Authorities have since issued a manhunt for Geza, charging him with multiple offenses, including insulting the President and inciting public violence.

His statements have deepened internal divisions within Zanu PF, particularly amid ongoing succession disputes. Meanwhile, the arrest of journalist Blessed Mhlanga in connection with the controversy has sparked fresh concerns over press freedom in Zimbabwe.

Geza and other war veterans have aligned themselves with Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, who is reportedly at odds with Mnangagwa over the party’s leadership.

Speculation persists that Mnangagwa, whose second term ends in 2028, may attempt to extend his rule to 2030 through constitutional amendments, despite his public denials.

The intensifying power struggle within Zanu PF raises fears of renewed political instability, with potential consequences for the broader national landscape.

As the situation unfolds, Mnangagwa faces yet another challenge in maintaining control over both the ruling party and the country at large.
