A Kwekwe couple has been sentenced to six months in prison for concealing stolen money linked to a $40,000 theft carried out by their fugitive son.

John Tuhwe (51) and Gciniso Ndlovu (43), parents of Calvin Tuhwe—who remains at large—were convicted by the court after it was proven that they hid part of the stolen money in their home.

The National Prosecution Authority confirmed that authorities recovered $680 hidden in a wardrobe and $5,200 in a plastic bag containing meat inside a fridge.

How the Theft Unfolded

On May 15, 2024, Calvin Tuhwe and his accomplices broke into the complainant’s home, stealing $40,000 in cash before disappearing. Following the crime, Calvin shared part of the stolen money with his parents before fleeing, leaving them to deal with the consequences.

During the trial, the court ruled that John and Gciniso were guilty of knowingly concealing stolen proceeds, a move seen as obstructing justice. Their sentencing strongly warns against aiding and abetting criminals, even within families.

Authorities are still searching for Calvin, and police have urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
