Mines deputy minister and Sanyati legislator Polite Kambamura has denounced allegations that he hired a militia to disrupt a party cell inter-district meeting in his constituency, Sanyati on Thursday.

Kambamura who is not new to election violence in his constituency allegedly hired youth militia to manhandle Zanu PF district chairpersons from Arda, Rusvingo and Nyaunde, perceived as impeding Kambamura’s re-election bid.

The case was reported to the police under RRB5413524.

“I do not know what you are talking about. Yes, I am in Sanyati, but never witnessed that,” Kambamura told NewsDay, exonerating himself from the accusations.

Several party officials who spoke to NewsDay alleged that Kambamura came with a truckload of thugs to violently disrupt the meeting.

“The Member of Parliament came with a hired crowd which beat up people, including myself,” Zanu PF Rusvingo district chair Joseph Takasungwa said.

Nyaunde district chair Kudakwashe Gwatinyanya allegedly lost a tooth during the heated skirmish.

Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial member Tawanda Tachiona confirmed the incident, saying Kambamura had sent a youth militia to perpetrate violence against party leaders in Sanyati.

“We witnessed district party leaders being beaten up. We are taking those injured to Sanyati Hospital,” he said.

Kambamura is not new to controversy; socialite Susan Mutamhi once leaked her bedroom images with the mines minister in a series of leakages which also saw Mutamhi alleging that she had sex with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
