Zanu PF is set to name and shame certain members who are “sheep in wolves’ clothing” and have been sowing discord within the party by sponsoring journalists to write negative news about the presidium.

This comes as President Mnangagwa informed editors from across the country’s media fraternity that the party has been infiltrated by individuals who, while dressed in Zanu PF regalia, are not true party members.
“We have other people who are in Zanu-PF, who in themselves are not Zanu-PF, but they dress in Zanu-PF regalia. So you must always see when people talk and see in which camp they belong to when they open their mouths.”

Additionally, Presidential Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara has urged journalists to report positively on Zimbabwe, emphasizing that this is critical for attracting investors. In a first for Zimbabwe, Dr Tungwarara has been equipping journalists with essential trade tools, enabling many to shape the Zimbabwean narrative and reach areas they could not before. This initiative aligns with President Mnangagwa’s mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind.”

However, this move has also exposed certain party officials who have been sponsoring journalists to target other members and create non-existent factions, Dr Tungwarara remarked.

“We are not saying journalists should not write negative things about us, but there must be a balance. People must strive to market the brand Zimbabwe. We are all Zimbabweans, and if investors come to Zimbabwe, that will benefit all Zimbabweans. It will create more jobs for Zimbabweans, and even the media will benefit through advertising.”

To ensure positive coverage of brand Zimbabwe, Dr Tungwarara is set to meet journalists to share ideas that can take the country towards Vision 2030.
He is also set to award media houses and journalists who have consistently covered Zimbabwe positively.
“We must reward and award such journalists. They have stood with President Mnangagwa, the presidium and the party at large. This compaingn is very good for every Zimbabwean,” said Dr Tungwarara.

He added that this is not a new concept but is the standard in countries like Dubai.
“We are coping this from Dubai. In Dubai, you are only allowed to write positively about the country and it’s leadership if you write negatively, you will be jailed . It’s time for our media to report reality and genuine facts, taking the country forward,” said Dr Tungwarara.

Dr Tungwarara’s bold initiative to empower journalists has revealed bitter party members who wished to see the Second Republic fail, according to sources.

The silver lining, the sources added, is that bona fide party members are now united in supporting programs like the Presidential War Veteran Fund, which has transformed the lives and livelihoods of thousands of former liberation fighters.
