Mandaza bus Accident

A Mandaza bus was involved in a head-on collision with a Glenview High School bus, located 10 kilometres before Beatrice.

The ZRP is yet to confirm this incident.

The incident occurred the day after Felix Mhona, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, was considering revoking the license of Urban Connect Bus Service following a tragic accident near Beitbridge.

The Beitbridge accident, which took place just days ago, led to the deaths of 25 people. Mhona criticised the bus driver’s reckless driving, suggesting it played a role in the deadly crash.

He questioned the driver’s actions, saying, “Why was he speeding towards the toll gate? We may have to remove them from service.”

Further investigations revealed that the bus driver’s retest had expired in 2021, and the bus was operating without a valid route permit.

Mhona also urged the public to refrain from filming accidents and to wait for official updates. He added, “Let’s show respect for the deceased and wait for proper communication.

Recording videos can cause more harm than good. We will investigate the cause of the accident and take action.”

The accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, at the 262-kilometer mark along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, near the Lutumba Toll Gate.

The Urban Connect bus, which was carrying 65 passengers, collided head-on with an Auro Transport haulage truck that was heading in the opposite direction.

The crash took place when the bus attempted to overtake another vehicle while traveling from Harare to Beitbridge.
