South African media personality Anele Mdoda has opened up about a terrifying experience she recently had with an Uber driver in Cape Town.
The incident took place on February 23, 2025, when Mdoda booked a ride using Uber’s “Do not Talk to Me” feature, which allows passengers to request minimal interaction.
However, this reportedly upset the driver, who allegedly made a threatening and disturbing remark.

Fearing for her safety, Mdoda pretended to be on Instagram Live throughout the journey as a precaution.
Upon arriving at her hotel, the situation escalated further when the driver began shouting at her.
Mdoda managed to record part of the confrontation, later sharing it on social media to raise awareness about the threats and dangers faced by passengers.
Her post has since sparked widespread concern and discussions about ride-hailing safety measures.
