Senior journalist Blessed Mhlanga, who turned himself in to authorities on Monday, has arrived at court for his scheduled appearance this morning.
Mhlanga, widely known as “Dhara B,” voluntarily surrendered to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Law and Order Section at Harare Central Police Station following a police statement identifying him as a person of interest.
He is accused of distributing material deemed harmful to the state, allegedly violating Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. The charges stem from an HStv broadcast featuring Zanu PF central committee member Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, who called for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down.
With a distinguished journalism career, Mhlanga has covered a wide range of political events, including Mnangagwa’s return from exile before assuming power.
