Harare Man Granted Protection Order Against Ex-Girlfriend Over Harassment Claims

A Harare man, Tabani Chihombore, has secured a protection order against his former girlfriend, Nyasha Beto, after accusing her of harassment following their breakup.

The case was heard before Magistrate Narotam, where Chihombore detailed incidents of alleged harassment, claiming Beto refused to accept the end of their relationship.

Chihombore alleged that Beto frequently showed up at his home and workplace, causing disturbances. He further accused her of spreading false claims that he was financially incapable of supporting their child and even bringing his clothes in a plastic bag to embarrass him in front of clients.

He also claimed that Beto followed him to his parents’ home, falsely accused him of assault, and went as far as hiring a private investigator to track his movements. According to Chihombore, Beto even threatened to leak intimate photos of him online if he refused to reconcile with her.

Beto, however, denied the harassment allegations. She countered that she only visited Chihombore’s parents to request financial assistance for their child and alleged that he had physically abused her on multiple occasions, incidents she said were reported to the police.

Magistrate Narotam ruled in favor of Chihombore and granted the protection order. She advised Beto to seek child support through the Maintenance Court instead.
