A Harare man is facing legal trouble after asking to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the New Parliament building in Mt Hampden. The incident, which occurred on February 6, has landed 25-year-old Fungai Mukamba in court on charges of disorderly conduct.
Court Proceedings and Mental Health Evaluation
During his court appearance on Monday, the presiding magistrate ordered that Mukamba undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine his mental state. As a result, he has been remanded in custody until February 24, when he is expected to make a routine court appearance.

Prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah told the court that Mukamba’s actions disrupted operations at the New Parliament building. The State alleges that the defendant’s refusal to leave and his aggressive behavior posed a security risk, prompting law enforcement officers to intervene and detain him.
Ongoing Investigations
The court has yet to determine Mukamba’s motivations for his attempt to meet the President. Meanwhile, authorities are conducting further investigations to assess whether the incident was an isolated event or part of a broader issue.
