The University of Twente offers the UTS (University of Twente Scholarships) to outstanding students from both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA regions who are seeking admission into a master’s (MSc) program at the institution.

Number of Scholarships Available:

Every year, we award about 50 scholarships.

Eligible Applicants:

The scholarship is open to international students from EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA countries. (For a complete list of eligible countries, refer to the official website.)

Scholarship Amount and Duration:

The financial aid provided ranges between €3,000 and €22,000 for one academic year. For students enrolled in a two-year master’s program, they may qualify for an additional scholarship for the second year—provided they meet the renewal criteria set by the university.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Applying for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a separate process from applying for admission to the university. Candidates must first secure (provisional) admission to one of the eligible master’s programs before applying for the scholarship.
  • The applicant must have a valid student number from the University of Twente.
  • Candidates must not have previously graduated from any UT master’s program.
  • If required, applicants must meet the conditions for obtaining an entry visa to the Netherlands.
  • English language proficiency must meet the following standards:
    • • An academic IELTS score of at least 6.5 (or a TOEFL IBT score of 90).
    • A minimum subscore of 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) in speaking skills
  • Applicants must not be eligible for a Dutch study loan.
  • • Students who rank in the top 5–10% of their class typically receive the UTS.

Application Process:

Students must first apply for a master’s program at the University of Twente. Once they receive a (conditional) admission letter, they can proceed with the scholarship application using their student number.

  • • Round 1 applications: open on October 15, 2024; deadline: February 1, 2025
  • Round 2 applications: Open on 1 February 2025; deadline: 1 May 2025.
