Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has officially joined the Roman Catholic guild, marking a significant step in his personal faith journey.
The former military general and politician shared his reflections on the impact of his spiritual commitment after a ceremony at a local church in Harare today.
Speaking shortly after his induction, Dr. Chiwenga emphasised the importance of faith in his life, describing the move as a deep personal transformation.
“Faith has always been my anchor, and today’s step strengthens my commitment to God and service to the people,” he said.
The event was attended by clergy, senior government officials, and fellow church members, underscoring the intersection of faith and leadership in Zimbabwean politics.
Dr. Chiwenga’s decision to join the Catholic guilds signals a shift in his public image, positioning him not only as a statesman but also as a devout believer.
The Roman Catholic guilds play a significant role in the church, engaging in charitable work, evangelism, and community service. Dr. Chiwenga’s membership could see him actively participating in such initiatives.
His faith journey has been in the public eye before, particularly during his battles with ill health, where he often credited divine intervention for his recovery.
The Vice President’s move has sparked discussions, with some praising his commitment to faith, while others view it through a political lens.
However, for Dr. Chiwenga, today’s step appears to be a deeply personal milestone in his spiritual walk.
