Outspoken former ZANU PF Chivi South legislator Killer Zivhu has urged the ruling party not to interfere with the opposition party’s rallies.

Zivhu was expelled from Zanu PF in 2020 after he called for dialogue between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa who was then leading the MDC Alliance.

His sentiments came after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) allegedly blocked the country’s main opposition party, CCC from holding a rally at Rudhaka in Marondera on Saturday.

He took to Twitter where he highlighted that banning the opposition rallies will put Zimbabwe at risk of more sanctions.

“Regai vanhu vaite ma rallies avo, moda tipiwe mamwe ma sanctions, gore rino kune nzara, people don’t make decisions to vote for you at rallies.
“But they make decisions based on what they want to overcome or achieve when they vote you in. Decisions have been made already.” he wrote.

However, Acting President Constantino Chiwenga said ZANU PF has no power to ban any rally since they also apply to the Zimbabwe Republic Police to get clearance for its rallies.

He accused the police of blocking the opposition (CCC) rallies around the country when he was addressing a rally in Dangamvura, Mutare over the weekend.
