ZIMSEC Nov O-level results out

Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Ordinary Level results have been released.

Results can be accessed online on the ZIMSEC portal from 10pm today.

ZIMSEC board chairperson, Professor Eddie Mwenje in a statement said the examinations board noted a decrease in the pass rate by 6.8percent.

“On behalf of the ZIMSEC Board and Management, it gives me great pleasure to advise the nation of the release of THE November 2020 Zimsec Ordinary level examination results.

“Candidates who sat for this examination will be able to access their results from the portal, which will only be open for 5 days.

“Heads of examination centres will be able to collect the results from their Regional offices starting today 3 May 2021.”

“ The total number of candidates who sat for the November 2020 Ordinary Level was 264 099, and 184 249 wrote 5 subjects or more and 45 644 passed 5 or more subjects with C or better as compared to 2019 were 200 062 wrote 5 or more and 63 215 obtained grade C or better.

“It is important to note that some countries that went into national lockdown due to the pandemic also experienced a decrease in pass rates, hence the 2020 results are with range and it is commendable considering the devastating conditions of the Covid19 pandemic.”

Male candidates performed slightly better than female candidates with a margin difference of 2.8 percent, despite having had more females registering for the examination than the male counterparts, which is the same trend observed in 2019.

There was a decrease of 8.3 percent in the pass rate of learners with special needs.
