The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has announced the fees and registration deadlines for the June and November 2025 Ordinary Level (O-Level) and Advanced Level (A-Level) examinations.
Government Subsidies for Public School Candidates
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZIMSEC confirmed that the government will cover 55% of the exam fees for O-Level and A-Level candidates enrolled in public, local authority, and mission schools. However, private school students, as well as private candidates within public schools, will be required to pay the full cost of the examination fees.
The statement outlined:
“The government will subsidise 55% of the exam fees for candidates in public schools, local authority schools, and mission schools. Private school students and private candidates in public schools will pay the full amount. We have set the full exam cost for 2025 at USD 24.00 per subject for O-Level and USD 48.00 per subject for A-Level. Public school candidates will pay only 45% of these fees, with the government covering the remainder.”
Fee Structure
O-Level Exam Fees (Per Subject):
- Public Schools: US$11.00
- Private Schools/Colleges: US$24.00
- Extra-Territorial Candidates: US$56.00
A-Level Exam Fees (Per Subject):
- Public Schools: US$22.00
- Private Schools/Colleges: US$48.00
- Extra-Territorial Candidates: US$98.00
Limit on Subsidised Subjects
The government subsidy will apply to a maximum of seven O-Level subjects and four A-Level subjects, including Communication Skills. Candidates registering for additional subjects will need to pay the full cost of the exam fees for those extra subjects.

The notice emphasised:
“The government subsidy is limited to 7 subjects at O-Level and 4 subjects at A-Level, including Communication Skills. Any additional subjects will be charged at the full cost to the candidate.”
Payment Options and Deadlines
While exam fees are priced in US dollars, ZIMSEC will accept payments in South African Rand or Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), calculated at the prevailing interbank rate.
June 2025 Exam Payments
- • From March 10 to March 14, 2025, you can make payments in ZiG.
- The registration deadline for June exams is March 14, 2025.
The notice stated:
“Payments for the June 2025 examinations in ZWG must be made from March 10 to March 14, 2025, at the prevailing interbank rate as of March 10. Proof of payment and exam entries must also be submitted by March 14, 2025.”
November 2025 Exam Payments
- Payments in ZiG will be accepted from March 24 to March 28, 2025.
- The final registration date for November exams is March 28, 2025.
The statement added:
“For November 2025 exams, payments in ZWG can be made from March 24 to March 28, 2025, using the prevailing rate as of March 24, 2025. All proof of payments and registration documents must be submitted by March 28, 2025.”
