ZimPapers has suspended 2 editors Washington Gwanzura and Tinashe Chuma for publishing a letter to the editor in the H Metro’s feedback column that wished one Zanu PF member or a person from the Presidium dead instead of Soul Jah Love.

This was revealed in the letters seen by this publication that stated that the duo will be suspended for 14 days without a salary or benefits as the ZSE listed entity investigates the issue.

One of the suspension letters addressed to Mr. Gwanzura said:
“It is being alleged that you breached the Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited Code of Conduct and Grievance Procedure in that you failed to check H-Metro publication for the 19th February 2021 and cleared the copy for printing with an unacceptable statement in the feedback column.

“In line with Section 21 of the Zimpapers Code of Conduct and Grievance Procedure, you are hereby suspended from duty for 14 working days without pay and benefits with immediate effect pending further investigations.

The period of suspension will be from 19th February 2021 to 11th March 2021. In the meantime, please be advised that you are barred from setting foot at Herald House until the investigations are completed._

H-Metro has since apologized for the error via its twitter handle.

“IN our 19 February 2021 edition of H-Metro we erroneously published feedback from someone wishing death upon ‘someone in the presidium’. The error is regretted. We apologize sincerely to the Presidium and all our readers for this error and for any inconveniences caused – EDITOR”, read the tweet.
