Zimbabwe records drop in Covid-19 active cases

Covid-19 active cases in the country have dropped to 1 325 after 1 756 people recovered from the novel virus.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that, “Active cases go down to 1 325 yesterday. 1`756 new recoveries reported (Harare reports 1 698 recoveries have been recorded in the country.”

A total of 47 people tested positive for corona virus yesterday.

“47 new cases were recorded and 3 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. 42 are local cases and 5 are returnees from South Africa. 1 death is from Bulawayo Province, 1 from Mash East and the other from Manicaland.”

Matabeleland South province recorded the highest cases with 15 and Bulawayo Province and Mashonaland West recorded the least with 3 cases each.

Matabeleland South has the highest number of active cases with 144 while Masvingo has the least active cases at 7.

As of 17 August 2020, Zimbabwe had recorded 5 308 cases, 3 848 recoveries and 135 deaths.

Most of the deaths in the country have been recorded in Harare Province while Masvingo still has zero deaths.

Globally, 21 549 706 cases have been confirmed while 767 158 deaths have been recorded.

The World Health Organisation continues to remind the people to follow the regulations to protect themselves against Covid -19
