Zimbabwe Names Solid Side for Quadrangular Series

Zimbabwe has named a solid side to face Kenya, Brazil and Namibia in Quadrangular series to be held in Stellenbosch, South Africa from the 12th to 21st of  November.

Apart from the core that has made up the squad, Zimbabwe will be boosted by the inclusion of loose forward Tapiwa Tsomondo and his uncapped counterpart, South Africa based back Tapiwa Mafura.

Seasoned campaigners like Biselele Tshamala, Takudzwa Kumadiro, Lawrence Cleminson and Hilton Mudariki will provide the much needed experience as Zimbabwe hopes to set the stage for a possible 2023 world cup appearance.

Although the team looks good, there have always been challenges in the hooker and fly-half positions and the team needs to be beefed up in these areas. With Keith Chiwara and Riaan O’Neil it will be key to see how they fare.

There would have been serious conversations regarding the exclusion of youngsters, Tinashe Hombiro and Carlos Matematema despite them proving to be worthy of a run with the Sables.

Missing will be Blithe Mavesere, Matthew McNab, Farai Mudariki and Doug Juszczyk due to various reasons. Mavesere is injured, McNab and Mudariki were not released whilst Juszczyk just got to New Zealand.

Zimbabwe will play Brazil while Namibia will take on Kenya. The winners from the two matches will play each other in the final and the losers playing in the third-place playoff.
