Zimbabwe donates 20 000 Covid-19 vaccines to Namibia

Zimbabwe has donated a batch of 20 000 Covid-19 vaccines to Namibia.

The was confirmed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his twitter account.

“Only when all citizens of our region are protected, will Zimbabwe be able to return to normality.

“I’m delighted to announce that Zimbabwe has donated 20,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Namibia. Let’s protect all Africans.”

Zimbabwe donated 20 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines and Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) manufuctured by local universities and companies.

Deputy health minister, Dr John Mangwiro presented the donation.

He handed over the vaccines and PPEs to Namibia’s deputy prime minister and also minister of international relations Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah.

The donation comes at a time when Zimbabwe like any other country globally are effortlessly fighting to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

Zimbabwe has also received thousands of doses as a donation from China, Russia and India.

Despite the donations the ministry of health and the finance ministry have worked together to procure millions of doses to meet government’s target interms of head immunity.

According to the government Zimbabwe is targeting to vaccinate 60% of its population or 10 million people.

Meanwhile, yesterday Mangwiro launched the church Covid-19 vaccination roll out program called “Operation Marah”.

Currently Zimbabwe has vaccinated more than one million of its citizens.
