Bangladesh 468 (Mahmudullah 150*, Liton 95, Muzarabani 4-94) and 45 for 0 (Shadman 22*, Saif 20*) lead Zimbabwe 275 (Kaitano 87, Taylor 81, Miraz 5-82, Shakib 4-82) by 237 runs.

A good debutant knock by Takudzwanashe Kaitano (87) was not enough to avoid a disappointing showcase in the third session of Day 3 as Zimbabwe lost a whooping eight wickets for fifty- one.

Zimbabwe started solidly with Takudzwanashe Kaitano who top-scored with 87 off 311 balls, batting with the required patience for this format of the game and stand in captain Brendan Taylor who hit a quickfire 81 off 92 before he was caught at square leg after he failed a sweep shot off the bowling Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

After Taylor’s departure, Zimbabwe crumbled with Dion Myrers (27) and wicket keeper Regis Chakabva (31*) being the only two batsmen with notable scores.

It was Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 5-82 and Shakib Al Hasan 4-82 outdid Zimbabwe putting Bangladesh well on top of the one-off Test in Harare. Miraz claimed his eighth five-for while Shakib picked four wickets as well.

After Zimbabwe finished at 276, Bangladesh closed the day on 45/0 with a lead of 237. The Bangladesh openers Shadman Islam and Saif were on 22 and 20 respectively.

Play continues tomorrow on Day 4.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed and Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani have been fined 15% of their match fees following the face off they had on Day 2.The two were hit with one demerit point each as further punishment for getting in each other’s faces and making physical contact as well.

Zimbabwe hoping for early breakthroughs in the morning session to try and squeeze a result.
