Zim records 178 Covid-19 cases.

Four more people have tested positive for Covid -19 bringing the total of confirmed cases in the country to 178.

The four new cases are returnees from Mozambique and South Africa.

Three cases were discovered in Mashonaland Central province and one in Mashonaland West.

To date the total number of confirmed cases in Zimbabwe is 178, recovered 29, active cases 145 and 4 deaths since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March 2020.

“Four cases tested positive for Covid -19. These are returnees from Mozambique 1 and South Africa 3 who are isolated.

“Today 214 RDT screening tests and 566 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date its 45 395 (27 323 RDT and 18 072 PCR),” reads the Health ministry Covid-19 update.

Globally, 5 939 234 confirmed cases and 367 255 deaths had been recorded by national authorities as at 31 May 2020.

The World Health Organisation continues to urge people to practise good hygiene, maintain social distancing and wear face masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
