Zim Covid -19 death toll rises to 53

Zimbabwe yesterday recorded twelve (12) Covid-19 deaths as confirmed cases spiked to 3 092.

This comes after a total of 213 more people tested positive for corona virus.

The Health ministry daily update read, “Today we report the results of 12 deaths which occurred from 13-20July 2020 in the community and admission to Causality department at Parirenyatwa and Sally Mugabe hospitals after investigations and post mortem were done. These include 9 males and 2females all from Harare and had respiratory symptoms and their PCR tests came out positive. The death from Midlands Province is of a male aged 58.”

Positive cases are also on the rise in the country as almost every day more than a hundred people are testing positive.

“Two hundred and thirteen cases tested positive for COVID -19 yesterday. These include 205 local cases and 8 returnees from South Africa who are isolated.

26 new recoveries were reported in Bulawayo Province while Masvingo Province recorded 11 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country is now at 3 092, while 924 recovered with 2 115 active cases and 52 deaths.

Yesterday, 1851 RDT screening tests and 1 340 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date is 129 899 (70 768 RDT and 59 131 PCR).
