Zim Covid-19 cases spike; 2 264 new cases recorded

Covid-19 confirmed cases have surged in the country with 2 264 new positive Covid -19 cases and a total of 34 deaths recorded yesterday.

All new cases that were recorded are from local transmissions.

According to the Ministry of Health, 10 362 tests were carried out yesterday and 21.8% were positive.

706 new recoveries were recorded with the national recovery rate standing at 70% and active cases have risen to 15 924.

In Covid-19 hotspot classified areas: Kariba recorded 18 cases, Chidamoyo 28 cases, Karoi 22 cases, Chinhoyi 48, Mash West, Mazowe 40, Seke 73, Mutoko 40, Chiredzi 48, Masvingo  43, Northern suburbs 70, Nkulumane 24, Emakhandeni 28, Harare 336 and Kwekwe 34.

As at 7 July 2021, 11 425 received their first vaccination yesterday countrywide bringing the number of first dose to 819 058 and 4 765 received their second dose bringing the cumulative of fully vaccinated people to 579 699.

To date Zimbabwe has recorded 60 227 cases, 42 330 recoveries and 1 973 deaths.
