ZIFA re-appoints Mpandare

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has initially re-appointed Wellington Mpandare as the new general manager for all the Warriors’ age groups.

In a statement, ZIFA, officially announced that they have appointed Mpandare as the new general manager for the national team for a period of three years.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed Mr Wellington Mpandare as the General Manager for all national teams on a three year contract,” reads their statement.

In their statement, ZIFA further described that they utilised on Mpandare’s experience as the reason why they opted to assign him  as the Warriors’ new general manager, despite that the position comes along with huge duties.

“The position comes with huge responsibilities which the board felt match the experience possessed by Mpandare who has served in the similar capacity in the past,” the statement reads.

ZIFA’s statement also depicted that exclusively from usually being the team manager for the Warriors, Mpandare, will further look into  all the logistics and welfare of all the national teams as it turns to be his new duties.

“Apart from the usual responsibilities of the team manager for the Warriors, Mpandare will also be responsible for all the logistical and welfare issues for all the national teams. He will work hand in glove with other team managers to improve the organisational aspects around national team games,” described ZIFA’s statement.

Meanwhile, during his last tenure with the Warriors as the team manger, Mpandare was part of the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations squad that went to Egypt.

Furthermore, he was also part of the local based team that qualified to secure a place in the 2021 Africa Nations Championship.

Mpandare’s first assignment comes as Warriors take on Algeria for the back to bacl AFCON qualifier match in November.

Meanwhile, CAF, approved that Zimbabwe may host Algeria at the giant National Sports Stadium, regardless the stadia’s ban early this year.
