Masvingo – Former Premier league giants, Masvingo United has received RTGS$78 000 from ZIFA Eastern Region, an official has confirmed.
All clubs were allocated RTGS$85 000 but Masvingo United has a RTGS$7 000 fine deducted for late payment of affiliation fees.
“We have received the funds from the ZIFA Eastern region which was deposited into the club bank account. We ended up getting RTGS$78 000 as the team was fined RTGS$7 000 for our late payment of the affiliation fees.
We eventually paid when the fixture had already been drawn and it was unfortunate. However at least we are in the league. We met as an executive and discussed on how we have to sue or disburse the money and we unanimously agreed we consult and hopefully to meet again this coming weekend with some solution,” the Club chairman, Hubert Fidze said.
Fidze added that by the end of the week they will have agreed on how to use the funds and promised to use the money wisely as per ZIFA/FIFA guidelines.
The Clubs spokesperson, Godfrey Kurauone also said that the board will discuss on how they will use the funds.
“We will sit down as the board and decide how we are going to use the funds we got from ZIFA. We also urge the club supporters to continue giving assistance to the team. Mostly they want the funds to help out the club during this Covid-19 period as the league has not yet started and players are not playing,” Kurauone said.
One club supporter said that the board should quickly deliberate on how the funds should be used taking into account the economy and sort out the issue of players contracts and other imminent issues that need to be dealt with.
