The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has challenged the main opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to apply and pay a fee to obtain the voters roll ahead of the March 26 by-elections.

There have been calls for transparency following claims that ZEC is colluding with ZANU PF to manipulate the voter’s roll and rig the upcoming elections.

Online pressure group Team Pachedu through their findings have helped expose massive irregularities including the alleged registration of voters without known addresses which has put ZEC under the spotlight.

ZEC allegedly moved over 177 000 people from their constituencies and wards on the contested voters roll.

However, CCC challenged ZEC to release a new and accurate voters roll which was used in 2018 or 2008 before the upcoming by-elections.

In response, ZEC wrote: “Any political parties, candidates, etc who wish to obtain the 26 March By-Elections voters for #ElectoralPurposesOnly may apply to the commission and pay a fee to obtain it.”
